Description

DuRock B2000 is an acrylic-modified cementitious dry mix base coat designed for use over Expanded Polystyrene (EPS) Insulated Concrete Forms (ICF). B2000 forms a strong yet flexible, crack-resistant base coat that is intended for use on the exterior, above-grade portion of ICF foundation walls. STORAGE & MIXING

  • Store B2000 in a dry place away from direct sunlight and under cover until time of application. Employ temporary protection measures as needed. B2000 cannot be permitted to freeze once it has been mixed with water.
  • Using a stainless steel or corrosion resistant mixing blade and power drill, start with 4.4L (1.2 gallons) water, gradually add one bag of B2000 and mix at 400 – 500 rpm, ensuring not to induce air into the product, until a uniform paste consistency is attained. Let the mixture stand for 5 minutes, then re-mix before use.
  • Up to 250 mL (8 oz) of potable water can be added to a full mix of B2000 to adjust workability in hot temperature conditions. Accelerators and other additives are prohibited and will void warranty. Discard any material that has begun to stiffen.

APPLICATION & COVERAGE

  • Substrate must be clean, dry, and free of cracks or loose material. Surface and ambient temperatures must be at least 4°C (40°F) a minimum of 24 hours, and must remain so until B2000 has dried. Do not apply B2000 in direct sunlight at temperatures exceeding 30°C (86°F) and protect from winds exceeding 25 km/hr (15 mph) as well as precipitation for at least 24 hours.
  • Rasp the ICF to ensure coating adhesion, and to remove waves, bumps, and UV degradation. Conceal/backwrap or otherwise protect all points of termination ensuring that the ICF is completely encapsulated. B2000 can be trowel-applied with a stainless-steel trowel, or spray-applied through a ¼ inch orifice at 20 psi. Maximum single coat thickness is 1/8 inch (3.2 mm). Immediately embed alkali-resistant glass fiber reinforcing mesh throughout the B2000 application area. Immediately embed mesh into the first wet coat. Overlap mesh joints a minimum of 2.5 inches (65mm). Double mesh inside corners, outside corners, and corners of openings. Apply additional coats until the mesh pattern is not visible.
  • B2000 is available in 22.7 kg (50 lbs) bags, yielding approximately 80 ft 2 (7.5 m 2 ) at a nominal thickness of 2.0 mm ( 1 /12 inch).
